Dedicated hosting is an option for websites that require applications with special configurations that are not available with a shared hosting plan. If a company or individual needs very specialized software or hardware for their website, they should consider a dedicated hosting plan. Sometimes the applications needed by a website are just not available on a shared hosting package with standard configurations.

For web developers, companies and organizations looking for the highest level or security and flexibility, dedicated server hosting is a great option once again. Since a hosting customer does not need to share their server with any other customers, their hosting solution is even more secure. Customers also receive a great deal more control over their hosting experience and therefore receive flexible hosting options. This is very beneficial for websites that can be continuously changing and that are updated and expanded often.

Some websites receive a high level of visitors each month. A website receiving 1000’s of visitors a day would not do well on a basic shared hosting plan. They would exceed the bandwidth limits of most packages very quickly. Extremely large websites, especially large ecommerce sites need a great deal of bandwidth and disk space due to large quantities of traffic and information and applications required for the website. Dedicated hosting is an option for those who have very specific web hosting needs. Websites requiring a large amount of storage space and monthly data transfer can benefit from dedicated server hosting. Many dedicated hosting servers are $99 a month and upwards depending on the server needed. However, this is still a much cheaper option than utilizing in-house hosting options.
