Need a discounted dedicated server? How about a cheap host for a personal website. If yes head over to www.winsave.com, but don’t expect too many perks or options. Shopping for something else? Don’t waste your time. Winsave doesn’t have much more to offer.

History

Winsave’s site boasts that collectively they have 100 years in the windows hosting world. They have worked with windows since the first version in 1996. There systems are guarded and make use of climate control and filtration systems. The servers are made of name brand components from companies like Intel and Compaq. The servers also utilize multiple connections to tier1 networks to insure maximum uptime.

Hosting

Winsave has only one shared hosting plan, but at $9.95 a month or $8.95 if you pay for an entire year the plans is a great deal. It has 1000 megabytes of disk space, 100 gigabytes of data transfer, and a load of other features including 500 mail boxes, pay pal ecommerce, and a discounted $1.00 domain name registration.

Dedicated Hosting

Winsave servers start at only $59.00 a month and range in price to $109.00a month. The $59.00 servers are on a limited inventory and will only be available for a short time. The $59.00 server comes with Linux starter Fedora Core 3, AMD 1.3 Duron, 512 megabytes of RAM, 60 gigabytes HD and 100 gigabytes of data transfer. These servers do not come with a control panel and there currently only five available. The $109.00 dollar server comes with an Intel 1.7gigahertz CPU, 512 megabytes of RAM, 80 gigabytes HD, and 1000 gigabytes of data transfer.

Support

Winsave offers an 1800 number, and unlimited 24 hour tech support, operating system patches, system uptime monitoring, fast server reboots, and network and hardware SLAs. They also offer live chat, but the technicians are not very informative. The site also offers large searchable databases, and web tools.

Services

Winsave offers web design, domain registration, a program to drive traffic to the customer’s site, and email services. Also every plan comes with a free domain name, free editable text page, and five free web mail accounts.

Problems

Winsave has the right prices, good service, and support. What Winsave does not have is options. If you wish to have a shared hosting plan through win save there is only one option, and while great for a personal site it does nothing for a large business. Also the Winsave site is extremely difficult to navigate making it all most impossible to find anything.

Winsave is worth a second look when shopping for inexpensive personal site hosting or discounted dedicated servers. Just make sure that plenty of time to navigate the site is available when you sign up. For anything else such as large business accounts or virtual servers it would be wise to look elsewhere.
